PERRY, Okla.” The Ditch Witch® organization announces the creation of a revolutionary compact utility vehicle: the Ditch Witch® XT850 – a cross between a compact track loader, a mini excavator and a compact loader backhoe. The XT850 is a powerful, lightweight excavator/tool-carrier with options that include trailer, stands, and enough attachments to handle virtually any underground construction task. The XT850 is designed to provide big power and performance in tight spaces. Utility contractors, home-builders, landscapers, and others will be quick to take advantage of the patent-pending XT850™s 260° excavator sweep, which allows unprecedented digging capability from one point.
The XT850™s dual-pivot excavator system gives you incredible offset digging capability, says Product Manager Mike Lumbers. You can dig against a footing or wall and dig a number of trenches from one spot without having to move the unit.
When it is time to move, the machine™s turf-friendly rubber tracks are controlled by independent hydrostatic ground drives, giving the operator zero-radius turning capability. For utility- and municipal-related jobs that are often performed in very tight spaces”such as setting pedestals, digging laterals and drops”the XT850 will make things so much easier for the crew, says Lumbers. The diesel-powered XT850 offers optional aggressive rubber tracks.
The XT850 has a user-friendly design. All of the XT850™s functions are controlled with two joysticks, says Lumbers. With the flip of a switch, you can alternate from controlling the ground drive, lift arms, and attachments to controlling the excavator. The controls are infinitely variable, so anyone can master XT850 operation quickly. Only a 3/4-ton truck is necessary to transport the entire XT850 package-excavator tool-carrier, trailer and attachments-which weighs less than 10,000 lb GVWR, so no commercial driver”s license is necessary.
Versatility combined with maneuverability will be the XT850™s claim to fame, says Lumbers. The XT850 can drive more than 70 attachments. For certain construction companies and contractors, it could be the only piece of equipment they™ll ever need.
The Ditch Witch® organization specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality underground construction equipment. The company is a one-stop source for trenchers, vibratory plows, pneumatic piercing tools, backhoes, Subsite® electronic tracking and locating tools, horizontal directional drilling systems, drill pipe, downhole tools, vacuum excavation systems, and mini skid steers.
All of these products are recognized around the world for their advanced design, rugged construction, long-term durability, ease of use, and reliability. This product line represents the most complete range of equipment for installing utilities underground.
