Want to avoid traffic congestion? Delaware’s DOT has an app for that
Thanksgiving is only three days away. For many of us, that means traveling to be with family and friends. That also means congestion on the roads.I already have my strategy mapped out for traveling to avoid the peak traffic times.
If you’re in Delaware, now there is an app for this. (Isn’t there an app for almost everything these days? O.K., I’m exaggerating a little…).
The Delaware Department of Transportation, more commonly known as DelDOT, introduced a new app just in time for Thanksgiving holiday travel.
The DelDOT App, currently available for Android users, can be downloaded free to the public at the Google Play store. The application includes the latest news, events, traffic, and travel information such as the following:
* Viewing streaming traffic cameras
* Advisories for accidents and other incidents on the roadways
* Travel delays
* Average speed
* Virtual Travel Times
* Lane restrictions and road closures
* Red light enforcement camera locations (This is HUGE! How many of you have received that nice little letter in the mail with a hefty fine?)
* Roadway weather information
The iPhone version is not yet available, but DelDOT expects it to be available soon for download from the Apple Store.
