Trimble PCS900 for Milling Machines

Version 2.1 of the Trimble PCS900 Paving Control System for Milling Machines (in yellow) is in use on a Wirtgen W2000 milling machine.

Trimble introduced its Version 2.1 of the PCS900 Paving Control System for Milling Machines, a 3D asphalt milling solution, at Bauma 2013 yesterday.

The system is designed to help contractors mill a smoother surface, preventing the need to rework. The PCS900 v2.1’s Trimble SPS930 Universal Total Station and active targets to guide the milling drum to grade, while its hot swap functionality maintains continuity and reduces machine stoppage.

The portable 3D milling solution encloses the machine radio, power module, and wiring in one magnetically-mounted unit that can be set up in about 10 minutes and used on multiple machines and jobsites.

The PCS900 v2.1 is a CAN-based paving control solution, which allows the system to communicate directly with factory-installed 2D systems from most milling machine manufacturers. Operators can control both the 2D and 3D sensor configurations from a single display.

Trimble’s Version 2.1 of the PCS900 Paving Control System for Milling Machines is expected to be available during the second quarter of 2012 through the Sitech Technology Distributor network.
