NAPA Webinars Nov. 15: ‘Election Implications for Asphalt Contractors’ (free) and ‘Upping the RAP – Putting Research into Practice’

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) is hosting two webinars (one of which is free) on Nov. 15 – Election Implications for Asphalt Contractors and Upping the RAP – Putting Research into Practice at noon and 2 p.m. EDT, respectively.
Election Implications for Asphalt Contractors will focus on the impact of the Nov. 6 election on asphalt pavement contractors, upcoming congressional lame-duck session will be discussed, and prospects for the reauthorization of the latest highway bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), as well as fixes for the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) and related issues with a new Congress.
Speakers include Jay Hansen, executive vice president of NAPA and Steve Palmer, vice president of Van Scoyoc Associates.

Upping the RAP – Putting Research into Practice, which begins at 2 p.m. EDT, will focus on how Indiana implemented research aimed at increasing recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), and features the lead researcher, Rebecca S. McDaniel, Ph.D., P.E., technical director of the North Central Superpave Center, and the engineer who helped implement the changes in Indiana’s specifications, Matt Beeson, asphalt engineer with the Indiana Department of Transportation.
The webinar will address the effect of RAP on pavement performance, including discussions of the research conducted to characterize plant produced mixes at different percentages of RAP, the results of this research, and how Indiana DOT implemented this research.
