DODGE CENTER, Minn. (March 11, 2008) - McNeilus Companies has made several performance enhancements to its legendary Revolution® composite mixer drum, improvong the way ready-mix producers work. Areas of improvement include the interior surface of the drum, new water channels and a tougher exterior surface. These changes all increase productivity and drum longevity.
“Every improvement we have made to our Revolution drum enhances our customers” productivity and performance, said Mike Wuest, McNeilus Companies president. “We”ve invested a tremendous amount of time and energy to ensure that the Revolution mixer helps ready-mix producers lower their cost of operation, improve their efficiences and out more profit in their pockets. No company has brought more innovation to the industry than McNeilus.”
Some of the performance enhancements added to the Revolution drum include: More durable interior wear surfaces of the drum: McNeilus improved the interior surfaces of the drum to better protect against concrete buildup. The new interior provides superior wear resistance, extending the life of the fins and interior surface.
Refined interior surface prevents concrete buildup: Surface imperfections that promote concrete build-up have been removed from the interior of the drum. The smoother interior provides for better flow of concrete and prevents build-up. This ultimately means a more productive drum.
New water channels throughout the spiral: McNeilus has introduced 2-inch channels that allow water to get behind the fin, ensuring that concrete does not buil up. These new channels also allow for better concrete mixing action.
Tougher drum surface: A more durable drum surface-McNelius” new Revolution R-MOR drum finish ” provides a tough, UV-resistant layer on the Revolution drum, increasing its durability. The finish also means easier cleanup and a smoother service for vehicle graphics. The new finish contains a white pigment, so the drum no longer needs to be painted. The pigment is UV-stable and will not fade.
“The Revolution drum is the most productive concrete mixer inthe industry,” Wuest said. “The Revolution R-MOR finish is just one more reason to look at the Revolution for those producers who are interested in improved paload efficiencies, said Wuest.”
Revolution composite mixer drums are 2,000 pounds lighter than steel drums and can carry one-half yard of extra concrete. The weight savings translates into significant fuel savings on the return trip.
“If you were to make use of all the available McNeilus innovations, you could eliminate as much as 2,000 to 3,000 pounds from the vehicle. That equates to real savings that a ready mix producer can take to the bank,” Wuest said. “In an industry where payload equals more profit, the Revolution mixer has no equal.”
