Maryland governor looking for new transportation funding

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley met with Senate Democrats on Tuesday as part of a continuing effort to craft a bill to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in additional revenue for transportation projects, an aide said
More such meetings ( with the names and party affiliations changing) are expected across the country as states try to find ways to channel funds to desperately-needed transportation infrastructure projects. Massachusetts and Pennsylvania are looking sat a variety of options right now. Others states are also looking for ways to raise their own funding knowing that the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) surface transportation authorization from the last Congress is not going to give them enough funding for projects they consider essential.
