John Deere updates motor graders with Tier 4 Final technology

John Deere has updated its G-Series motor graders with a John Deere PowerTech EPA Tier 4 Final engine.
The updated G-Series includes 12 models — 670G/GP, 672G/GP, 770G/GP, 772G/GP, 870G/GP, 872G/GP — with net horsepower ranging from 220 to 287 and weight remaining the same as that of their predecessors.
Six of the units (672G/GP, 772G/GP, 872G/GP) feature six-wheel drive that provides operators with increased traction, more productivity in fewer blading passes and a 30-percent increase in blade pull.
The G-Series models automatically clean the engine with no machine impact, eliminating the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The DPF lasts 15,000 hours before ash removal is needed.
The new motor graders offer a high visibility ripper that is easily viewable with the machine is in motion, as well as new LED worklights that provide better illumination around each grader. A laminated cab glass option will be available in 2014.
The G-Series offers a choice between a console-mounted low-effort control pattern (G models) or intuitive armrest-mounted fingertip controls (GP models).
The graders feature an “open-architecture” design. GP models are factory-made with bulkhead connectors, sensor mounts, electrical wiring harnesses, integrated controls and moldboard mast mounts. Machines can also be factory-installed with a Topcon 3D-MC grade control system. All GP models come standard-equipped with automated cross-slope.
Serviceability is made simple with easily-accessible cooling package service access that includes a swing out fan door, pivoting coolers and a hydraulically driven cool-on-demand reversing fan that only runs when needed. Filters are located in an easy-to-access bank.
The graders are also equipped with John Deere WorkSight fleet management.
