Case Construction rolled out at World of Concrete 2012 in Las Vegas upgrades to its Case N Series loader/backhoes including the application of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) emissions-control technology to achieve Tier 4 Interim certification, as well as improvements in performance, productivity and maintainability.

Although a costly but required venture, the move to Tier 4 presents an opportunity for success with Case Construction, Hasler points out. The company is owned by Italian parent company, Fiat, which already has the technology and has invested in on-road trucks, he says.

“Make no mistake,” said Jim Hasler, vice president of Case-New Holland, at a press conference attended by Aggregates Manager, Better Roads and Equipment World, during World of Concrete 2012. “We are only ones going down the path of SCR and EGR, [but] we believe SCR will prevail.”

The Case 580N, 580 Super N, 580 Super N Wide Track and 590 Super N loader/backhoes now feature 3.4-liter, turbocharged engines, ranging from 78 horsepower in the 580N to 108 horsepower in the 590SN. The Tier 4 Interim-certified engine — with CEGR technology — burns cleaner while delivering superior horsepower, faster response and up to 4-percent better fuel efficiency under load.

Automatic Ride Control is now standard on Case N Series four-wheel-drive models. Ride Control, a technology Case says it pioneered for loader/backhoes, now automatically engages at “roading” speeds to help reduce bucket spillage. New optional features include a block heater for cold-weather starting, and a remote jump start with master disconnect switch.

.

E-Z Drill offers a line of multi-gang slab-rider drills for accurate concrete drilling from an easily maneuverable machine. The series consists of three self-propelled models: the three-gang Model 210-3 SRA, four-gang Model 210-4 SRA and five-gang Model 210-5 SRA.

The compact frame design allows each drill to operate in a 4-foot patch while drilling to within 6 inches of a corner. The bits drill to a standard 18-inch depth, and each unit can be adjusted easily to drill into the center of a 24-inch slab. Adjustable spacing can be set between 12 and 36 inches, with greater width settings available through custom orders.

The pneumatic drills, which are powerful enough to tow the air compressor with an optional tow-bar assembly, feature an internal regulator to prevent breakage caused by high-pressure spikes. When used with the tow bar kit, the SRA models eliminate the need for an additional vehicle. This enables one person to drill, move the machine and tow the compressor, saving on labor and fuel costs. Additionally, a patented tri-steering feature simplifies maneuverability as the machine can rotate within its own radius without needing to be disconnected from the air compressor.

An auto-alignment feature allows the units to be quickly repositioned after each hole set, resulting in the ability to drill more holes in a single day than competitive units. Furthermore, productivity is ensured with E-Z Drill’s patented roller bearing feed system, which provides for friction-free drilling. Each model also features an individual regulator that allows the operator to set the optimum drilling speed for each drill. Designed with productivity in mind, all E-Z Drill units use quick-release bit guides for fast changes with any bit style. Quick coupler air fittings and easily replaceable carriages lessen downtime for repairs.

Slab-rider drills reference from the top of the concrete slab, which provides for optimum accuracy and eliminates disturbance of the subgrade – a key requirement in many state contracts. An optional on-grade conversion kit makes the slab rider models more versatile for varying applications since it can reference from the subgrade when the top of a slab is not available. For additional versatility, the slab-rider models can drill vertically after just a few adjustments. This makes the machine useful for mud jacking and under-sealing applications.

A number of features built into the slab rider models contribute to durability and long service life. Multi-point oil injection allows each drill to be lubricated individually from a single reservoir so that each drill always has the proper amount of oil. This helps the drill motor last longer than with a central oiling system, which doesn’t offer individual lubrication adjustments. An automatic drill shutoff further extends each drill’s life by preventing “dry-firing.” Foam-filled tires with heavy-duty spindles eliminate flat tires and prevent breakage.

For operator safety, E-Z Drill features carriage locks to keep the drills and bits in place when the air supply is off or disconnected. Additionally, auto-locking air couplers keep the air supply hose on the drill coupling without the connection being manually pinned. A lifting point built onto each unit ensures the drill is balanced when being loaded and unloaded.

Established in 1987 after creating a solution to slow, handheld rock drills, E-Z Drill now manufactures lines of slab rider drills, on-grade models and equipment-mounted drills, as well as vertical utility models and concrete drilling accessories, such as dust-collection systems and cure trailer sprayers. E-Z Drill also can custom design and build automatic drill systems for customers’ specific jobs. For more information on E-Z Drill’s complete line of concrete drilling and doweling equipment, contact E-Z Drill, P.O.
The CC1100, CC1200 and CC1300 asphalt compaction roller models are available in either a dual steel vibratory drum configuration or in a combi version featuring one vibratory drum and four rubber rear tires. The machines are powered by water-cooled Kubota diesel engines, which are designed to run quietly and fuel efficiently.

The CC1100 weighs 5,070 pounds and features a 42-inch drum width; the CC1200 weighs 5,360 pounds and has a 47-inch drum; and the larger CC1300 weighs 8,270 pounds and features a 51-inch-wide drum. The CC1300 is considered suitable for compacting sub-bases and base courses and can follow a small paver.

The CC1100 and CC1200 feature drum diameters of 27 inches, while the CC1300 has a 32-inch drum diameter, making these models especially effective on soft asphalt compounds. In addition, the ratio of drum diameter to static linear load will help reduce the risk of surface cracks. The high clearance at the drum edge is designed to facilitate compaction close to high curbs.

With the combi versions of the three models, the rubber tires are operated in pairs by separate drive motors. This can reduce the risk of marring newly laid asphalt when making turns.

The Dynapac articulated compact tandem rollers are built using common parts to ensure better parts availability and to help retain resale values. They are equipped with a high capacity, corrosion-free, impact-resistant water tank. Three separate filters help alleviate problems of clogged sprinkler nozzles. The entire sprinkler system is configured to be drained easily with a few simple hand operations.

The model range features redesigned ergonomic controls, as well as handgrips and boarding steps designed to make it safer to get on and off the machine. The CC line also comes equipped with standard features such as a sideways sliding seat, dual driving controls and working lights.

The new model range is intended to feature lower operating costs for any paving contracting operation, big or small, while improved ergonomics and visibility help increase productivity for the professional compaction operator. Options are available to configure the machines to a contractor’s specific application needs.

Cimline has advanced the technology of cracksealing for pavement preservation again with the new Metro Series melter applicators. This new model joins the company’s successful Magma and Matrix melters that are used by contractors and municipalities throughout the world. Metro models in 150,275 and 425 gallon capacities offer exclusive features designed to enhance operator convenience, productivity and safety.

While the Metro shares many of the industry-leading features of previous Cimline models, several notable exceptions distinguish the new machine from others in the industry. Foremost is the new hose carrier to reduce operator fatigue. This three-section articulated boom keeps the hose low for better visibility while providing added support. An additional benefit is the protection it provides in travel mode when wind buffeting can cause hose wear. The articulated boom is available for single or dual hose models.

Metro’s After Burner II uses an ignition system to burn off excess fumes generated from heating the sealant to optimum temperature. A propane burner is positioned in the kettle’s vent and sensors prevent gas from flowing to the burner if it is not fired. The result is dramatically less smoke and fumes that make the Metro more community friendly.

A new style loading door is standard on the Metro and provides ultimate safety from splash back. A sealant block fits inside the door’s cavity which rotates 180-degrees to discharge the sealant block without letting fumes and smoke escape.

The first kettle level monitoring system allows operators to keep accurate readings on melted sealant. A simple visual readout uses lights to display when the kettle is one-half or three-quarters full allowing the operators to feed sealant blocks at the optimum rate. An auto-loader system is available that can be controlled by the material level monitoring system.

Other standard features include a new quick start control system, auger assisted agitator assembly, high intensity LED lighting and a heavy-duty tube frame.

For more information on the entire line of Cimline products visit www.cimline.com or contact Cimline at 1-800-328-3874.

Cimline is a company in the Cimline Pavement Maintenance Group which includes DuraPatcher pothole patching machines and EQUIPT professional sealcoating equipment.

This is a new product line for the company and its first foray into compact construction equipment. Roadtec’s traditional product line of highway-class asphalt finishers and cold planers are known for rugged construction, and this new product keeps with this tradition. The FB-85 broom features 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) of construction grade axle capacity, which is twice the strength of competing models.

A unique telescoping broom head allows the operator to switch brooms quickly without the need to change out broom heads. Moreover, the exclusive Roadtec side shift feature prevents tire wear when sweeping next to a curb. The broom drive motor can be mounted on the right or left side of the broom head allowing flush-sweeping on the right or the left side. The machine features sealed brakes to keep dust and debris out.

Access to all maintenance items is made simpler by means of a fully raisable hood. A CAT® 3.4L, 4 cylinder, 83 HP (62 kW) diesel engine powers the broom. Broom core sizes of 8-5’8” or 10” diameter (22 and 25 cm) can be used. The infinitely variable width broom head can rotate 33° to either side. Broom widths between 72” (183 cm) and 96” (244 cm) can be used.

The FB-85 broom has a pressurized cab with filtered A/C and heat. A steering wheel controls tractor steering. An ergonomic control/joy stick with single hand access handles most of the broom functions, including broom down pressure adjustment and broom rotation speed.

The new Roadtec broom will be manufactured in the company’s Riverside facility located in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

With the new 200 Series, New Holland maintains the best-in-class forward dump height and reach with the Super Boom® loader vertical lift design – and introduces breakthrough productivity improvements. The new skid steers culminate five years of customer research, design and engineering improvements.

“New Holland skid steers are built around our customers’ needs. Our engineers used input from hundreds of customers to design the new 200 Series line-up,” said Dave December, marketing manager at New Holland Construction. “The New Holland skid steer loaders have been engineered from the ground up. No matter what your line of work, construction, landscaping or agriculture, you’ll work faster, smarter and more profitably with our new skid steers.”

The New Holland L218, L220, L223, L225 and L230 skid steer loaders feature the patented vertical lift Super Boom design, delivering best-in-class forward dump height and reach.

“With our new Super Boom loader arm, New Holland skid steer loaders deliver superior lift and reach,” December said. “Unlike competitive models, they can load material to the center of trucks, finishing jobs faster.” The 53-degree dump angle on the 200 Series skid steer loaders is also best in class. This lets operators empty the bucket faster, increasing cycle times and productivity.

The new self-leveling bucket feature on the five models with the Super Boom design allows attachments to maintain the preset location throughout the lift cycle.

“Customers using pallet forks or other attachments to load materials into confined spaces will appreciate the extra work they’ll be able to complete with the self-leveling feature,” December said.

For long load and carry operations, the optional Glide Ride feature on the five New Holland skid steer loader models with the Super Boom design ensures a smooth ride over the roughest job site.

These five models are rated from 57 hp (42 kW) to 84 hp (63 kW). The L218 has an operating weight of 5,850 lbs (2,660 kg) and a bucket breakout force of 5,435 lbs (24.2 kN). The L230 has an operating weight of 8,300 lbs (3,765 kg) and a bucket breakout force of 8,585 lbs (38.2 kN).

Two new radial lift models introduced

New Holland also introduced two compact models, the L213 and L215. Each features a radial lift design, providing excellent digging performance.

“Unlike other manufacturers, New Holland outfits its smaller units with a full-size cab and all the premium features,” December explained. “This includes air ride seats, heat, air conditioning, Glide Ride, self-leveling bucket and more. Plus, we beefed up our engines with 20 percent more horespower than their L Series predecessors.” A heavy-duty, 1,000 cold cranking amp battery is also standard.

The L213 is rated at 43 hp (31.8 kW), with a rated operating capacity of 1,300 lbs (590 kg) and a bucket breakout force of 4,150 lbs (18.5 kN). The L215 is rated at 49 hp (36.3 kW), with a rated operating capacity of 1,500 lbs (680 kg) and a bucket breakout force of 4,150 lbs (18.5 kN).

Superior cab comfort and visibility

“A comfortable operator is a productive operator,” December said. “Our New Holland 200 Series skid steer loaders provide a superior working environment. Check out the competition.”

The New Holland cab is the widest, most comfortable cab in the industry, providing more head and foot room, and offering superior visibility in critical zones.

The New Holland cab is equipped with many new features, including:

A keyless start

An ergonomically designed joy stick with all controls

Switchable ISO and H-pattern control options

Full-body heating and air conditioning

A high-intensity lighting package

An ultra-thin screen protection system that provides superior job site visibility

Large rear window

A heated air ride seat option

“New Holland skid steer loaders give operators a 360-degree view of the job site,” December said. “The new rear window provides best-in-class rear visibility. And the new lighting package delivers superior job site visibility.”

Unmatched stability

Stability is an important part of being productive on the job site. The increased wheelbase on the New Holland 200 Series skid steer loaders allows operators to lift and haul more material, increasing productivity.
“With the longest wheelbase in the industry, and a low center of gravity, New Holland skid steers are the most stable on the market,” December said. “This design will make even novice operators confident on the job, especially when carrying heavy loads.”

New Holland 200 Series skid steer loaders also feature large, 16- to 25.5-gallon (60.5 to 96.5 L) fuel tanks, allowing operators to work 10 to 12 hours before refueling.

Time-saving maintenance

Daily maintenance on the 200 Series skid steer loaders is quick and easy, so operators can stay on schedule. Regular ground-level maintenance points are grouped together and service can be performed by opening the rear engine compartment and door.

For complete access to major components, the service technician only needs to remove two nuts and washers to tilt the cab forward. There is nothing to disconnect, and no special tools required. The new hydraulic system uses hydraulic oil, extending the service internal to 2,000 hours and significantly reducing the amount of disposed oil.

Attachments increase versatility

New Holland offers more than 50 skid steer loader attachments—including augers, brooms, dozer blades, grapples, hammers, pallet forks and rakes—to handle countless construction, landscaping or agricultural jobs. From material handling, digging, lifting and hammering, to trenching, planing or drilling, operators can count on New Holland attachments to boost their productivity. For customers who frequently change attachments, the new skid steer loaders feature a hydraulic heavy-duty coupler.”

The 200 Series skid steer loaders also include proportional auxiliary control as a standard feature on all models.

“Equipment operators can count on New Holland skid steers 24/7. They’re bigger, badder and better,” December said. “Plus, customers can count on more than 900 New Holland dealers across North America for sales, service and support.”

LAS VEGAS—New Holland Construction introduced seven skid steer loaders in its new 200 Series, the result of five years customer research, design and engineering improvements.

Rolled out on March 23 during ConExpo-Con/Agg 2011, New Holland says it maintains the best-in-class forward dump height and reach with the Super Boom loader vertical lift design – and introduces breakthrough productivity improvements.

“New Holland skid steers are built around our customers’ needs. Our engineers used input from hundreds of customers to design the new 200 Series line-up,” said Dave December, marketing manager at New Holland Construction. “The New Holland skid steer loaders have been engineered from the ground up.
