A recent independent study conducted by Utah State University determined that Snap-Tite’s inlet control device, the Hydro-Bell, increases hydraulic flow by nearly 30 percent, relative to the flow through a standard square end inlet condition typically found in culvert applications. The device is ideal for flood-prone culvert rehabilitation projects.

Also according to the study, as head pressure increases, the Snap-Tite Hydro-Bell system flow rate also increases. The Hydro-Bell is designed to “snap” onto the standard Snap-Tite culvert lining system’s machined ends – providing a larger, wider intake at the culvert entrance.

Hydraulic flow in short runs of pipe, such as drainage culverts, is often controlled by inlet and/or outlet conditions. It is possible to maximize flow rate by altering the inlet or outlet conditions in the culvert. However, in most cases, the outlet conditions are difficult to alter; but it is possible to modify the inlet condition.

Currently the Hydro-Bell is available in liner sizes from six to 63 inches. However, larger sizes are available on special request. The Hydro-Bell design consists of rounding the inlet with a leading radius, which transitions to a diametrical recess in the interior of the Hydro-Bell structure.

Known for their pioneering design, high-impact technology and extreme durability, Chicago Pneumatic has updated its line of medium, heavy and super-heavy duty High Back Pressure (HBP) breakers. HBP models are designed to accept the higher return pressure that is found on skid steers.

HBP breakers work perfectly from the auxiliary output of most skid steers when used in conjunction with an oil flow divider. The oil flow divider is necessary to ensure that the correct oil flow and pressure is sent to the breaker at all times. This combination maximizes flexibility and optimal equipment utilization. Don’t be mistaken; the HBP Breakers will also work on a standard power pack providing the user with additional location flexibility.

“The ability to run these breakers from the Power Take Off (PTO) outlet of a skid steer offers users access to all the productivity benefits of high-powered hydraulic hand tools, without the financial commitment to a conventional power pack,” says Eudes Defoe, product manager, light compaction and handheld tools, Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment. “Our new line of HBP hydraulic breakers have been tested with most of the major skid steer brands of on the market, and they have performed flawlessly.”

Able to accept up to 515 psi (35 bar) of back pressure — standard breakers accept 147-220 psi (10-15 bar)— their high pressure tolerance also permits the use of much longer hoses on job sites where space and access can be an issue.

BRK 55 HBP

A medium weight, multi-purpose breaker, the BRK 55 HBP is a reliable choice for road building and maintenance applications such as asphalt, brickwork, frozen soil, or concrete. Used in conjunction with an oil flow divider, The BRK 55 HBP can be used from the PTO outlet of most skid steers, and can be easily adjusted to work with both 8 gpm and 5 gpm (30 l/min and 20 l/min) power packs.

BRK 70 HBP

The BRK 70 HBP breakers are ideal for heavier demolition jobs, and are suitable for use on tough materials such as asphalt, frozen soil, and reinforced concrete. Used in conjunction with an oil flow divider, The BRK 70 HBP can be used from the PTO outlet of most skid steers, and works with both 8 gpm and 5 gpm (30 l/min and 20 l/min) power packs.<ins datetime="2012-02-02T13:34" cite="mailto:Brandon%20Jaynes"> </ins>

BRK 95 HBP

The BRK 95 HBP is Chicago Pneumatic’s super-duty hydraulic breaker. Falling in the 100 ft. lb. impact power class, the BRK 95 HBP is powerful enough to replace a small excavator with a breaker attachment in certain situations. Ideal for breaking heavy asphalt, reinforced concrete and foundations, these powerful machines are the rugged choice for utility construction, street maintenance, water and gas line repair and general heavy-duty construction jobs. Used in conjunction with an oil flow divider, The BRK 95 HBP can be used from the PTO outlet of most skid steers, and works with both 10 gpm and 8 gpm (40 l/min and 30 l/min) power packs.

Hydraulic Features

All Chicago Pneumatic handheld hydraulic breakers feature a well-balanced, slim body design with no external side bolts or protruding machine parts. This feature provides an accurate line of site to the working surface and minimizes operator fatigue.

Chicago Pneumatic hydraulic hoses, power packs and handheld hydraulic tools are fitted with flat-faced, quick-release couplings for fast and easy connections in all working situations. The couplings are designed to help keep hydraulic systems clean on work sites where there are large amounts of dust and dirt. The male and female couplings are mounted according to EHTMA (European Hydraulic Tools Manufacturers) standards, ensuring that no mistakes can be made on connections and that the direction of the oil flow is always correct.

The MTP is pushing beyond the traditional scope by allowing operators to hit the streets with their clearing efforts.

For decades, Henderson has been a leader in the engineering and manufacture of heavy-duty snow plows. We’re now proud to bring this technology to the MTP, a true medium-duty trip-edge reversible plow. Key features setting the MTP apart from other medium-duty snow plows are: multiple moldboard options (orange polymer, carbon steel or stainless steel), trip-edge with adjustable torsion springs, outboard reversing cylinders, level-lift, reinforced pivot points, electric or hydraulic cab control, quick connect/disconnect and ease of maintenance. Henderson delivers heavy-duty characteristics in this very versatile medium-duty snow plow.

The MTP’s trip-edge, outboard reversing cylinders and reinforced pivot points combine for performance outside the norm for medium-duty snow plows. Operators will still enjoy the traditional tasks of clearing driveways, parking lots and cul-de-sacs. However, now they’ll also be able to assist with the clearing of streets and other major roadways.

The MTP’s level-lift feature incorporates the following: holds a level position throughout the reversing cycle, keeps the plow low and out of the operator’s line of vision (at all times) and holds the plow high enough to avoid digging into roadways while not in use.

Today’s construction software is difficult to use, complex to set up, and expensive to maintain. The New Spectrum Version 14 changes all of that. Spectrum is 100 percent web-based, meaning that all you need is a browser and Internet connection to access your company information. So Spectrum will run on a Windows PC, an Apple iMac, any laptop, an iPad, even your smartphone can run Spectrum. While the server can live in your office or be hosted at a data center, the choice is yours. Dexter + Chaney will even host it for you so you need never worry about software updates or hardware requirements.

Easy to Use

“We’ve tripled in size but haven’t added any staff because Spectrum is so efficient” – Annette Ogden, Anderson Electric

Spectrum’s offers an entirely new user experience, it’s different from any construction software you’ve seen. And compared to what you might use today, it’s light-years ahead. Rich Kosleika, Spectrum user and owner of Standard Heating and Air Conditioning in Omaha, Neb., calls it “futuristic”. And he’s right. Gone are confusing menu systems with dozens of choices where critical information is buried behind unfamiliar terminology. Navigation is intuitive and information is context-driven (we need a good way to say “context-driven”).

Information Now

“Spectrum helps us see things sooner so we can address them before they become a huge problem.” – Jim Savage, Gaylor Inc.

We believe the only way to stay on top of a construction business is with solid information that you can trust. Spectrum delivers your company information faster and easier than other software. Put your hands on just the information you need wherever you need it. No matter where you go or what device you use, you will be able to access the information you need. Jobsite, airport, office, or home – pick the location and you will be able to access your information on any device that runs a browser and connects to the Internet.

Customers For Life

“Dexter + Chaney listens to their customers. You’re not just some number in a big corporate world where they don’t care what you think.” – Vickey Geffert, Controller, Alterman Electric

You deserve a software partner that will listen, help solve your problems, and keep your software up-to-date. For 30 years we have partnered with our construction clients to deliver exactly that. At Dexter + Chaney, we believe in putting customers first.

Lower Cost of Ownership

“We’ve tripled in size but haven’t added any staff because Spectrum is so efficient” – Annette Ogden, Anderson Electric

How well does your software company deliver new technology? Do you pay annual maintenance on existing products that taper off just in time for a “new” version that you have to buy? And if you do spend all that extra money, do you have to manually re-enter data while much of your valuable company history is lost?

30 years ago our first client was a small contractor that began using our software on the Unix operating system. Over time they grew and moved up to our Windows version and later upgraded to Microsoft SQL Server with our Version 12. Today they have over 100 concurrent users on Spectrum. In all that time and across all those technology changes they have never had to repurchase their software. And all their valuable company data transferred electronically from one version to the next. They never lost valuable history and they never had to manually re-enter data.

Talbert Manufacturing, a leader in the specialty-built trailer and transport system industry, launches its 50CC/RP Hybrid Trailer.

Combining the benefits of a close couple lowbed design with a roller paver model, the 50CC/RP offers a longer loading incline and best-in-class lift capacity of any trailer on the market. This allows the hybrid trailer the ability to haul a greater range of equipment, from loaders and excavators to rollers and pavers.

Additionally, the specialty design provides versatility for a larger audience of contractors including general construction, grading, excavation and pavement.

With a deck length of 26-feet, the new 50CC/RP offers the space for full construction fleet loads, while also featuring a specially-designed slope to allow easy transport of rollers and pavers. The design slopes from the bottom up to create a more moderate incline over a greater distance, approximately a third of the deck length. Finish height at the front of the main beams is 8 ¾-inches. Additionally, the trailer features a bolt-on ramp to provide a more gradual load angle at the rear; 15-degrees rather than the standard 35-degree angle. The 50-ton capacity 50CC/RP offers a deck width of 8-feet, 6-inches and a low deck height of 20-inches.

Designed for ease of operation, loading and unloading, the 50CC/RP Hybrid is a non-ground bearing hydraulic gooseneck trailer. Air ride suspension provides a smoother ride, while Talbert’s +3 / -3 control system allows fast and easy height adjustment of the lower and back end.

The 50CC/RP is four-axle capable, offering even greater versatility. It features three axles with fourth axle pin-on configuration. Axle capacity is 25,000-pounds each. To accommodate varying state laws, the trailer offers a dual kingpin setting of 108 and 90.

Built for strength and reliability, the 50CC/RP features a 4 main beam design and T1, 100,000-PSI minimum yield steel construction. The loading ramp is wood-filled and double-hinged to provide strength and traction needed for heavy equipment. To ensure a solid base for any load, Aptiong flooring offers proven performance and durability. Other standard features include rear-loading fenders, LED lights, strobes and battery backup.

Talbert’s newest trailer was designed for Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, a Talbert dealer for more than 20 years, headquartered in Voorhees, N.J. Hale’s Concord, N.C. branch partnered with Talbert for the World of Asphalt/AGG1 tradeshow and purchased the original model displayed on the show floor. The new trailer complements Talbert’s full product line, while also enhancing the line for the roller paver market.

Founded in 1938, Talbert Manufacturing provides the most complete line of heavy haul trailers and specialized transportation equipment for the commercial, industrial, military and government sectors; and in applications that include renewable energy, aerospace, heavy construction, in-plant material handling, manufacturing and processing systems, and much more.

Atlas Copco’s new addition to its heavy hydraulic breaker line, the HB 4100, provides better performance and higher efficiency than the preceding model and weighs less. It has a service weight of 9,039 pounds (designed for carriers in the 88,185- to 154,324-pound weight class), but is as powerful as other, much heavier breakers.

“The improvement is considerable,” explained Keith Becker, Atlas Copco product development specialist for hydraulic breakers. “We were able to achieve double-digit percentage increases in power and efficiency while holding on to our known reliability.”

Reduced weight and better performance means that similar results can be achieved with a smaller hydraulic breaker. A lighter breaker also means that a smaller excavator can be used, saving both investment and operating costs.

According to Becker, “The return on investment is many times greater than the pure acquisition costs. The reduction of total cost of ownership conserves resources such as man hours and fuel. The HB 4100 does this with its durability and simple maintenance concepts.”

Another improvement to the HB 4100 hydraulic breaker is a guide system that makes the breaker more stable and resilient. “Hydraulic breakers are ultimately subjected to use under the most extreme conditions,” Becker added. “A new cover plate for the retaining bars offers more protection in the lower part of the breaker. This area receives the most wear and tear, especially on demolition jobs. The HB 4100 also has increased wear protection at the bottom of the case, which has proven its worth with all heavy hydraulic breakers from Atlas Copco.”

The new HB 4100 also includes the following standard features of the Atlas Copco heavy hydraulic breaker series:

The VibroSilenced system protects operators against noise and vibrations.

PowerAdapt switches the breaker off in the event of a hydraulic overflow.

AutoControl adjusts the blow frequency and blow energy to match the hardness of the material.

ContiLube II is an integrated, automatic lubrication system.

StartSelect allows the operator to influence the startup and shutdown behavior of the hydraulic breaker.

The optional DustProtector protects the lower part of the hydraulic breaker from dust and rock particles.

The HB 4100 hydraulic breaker is suitable for secondary and primary rock breaking in quarries, demolition of concrete, steel and pavement, trenching, dredging, tunneling and foundation work.

It is now available with an optional hydraulically-folding rear conveyor belt for improved transportability. The new option allows the conveyor to remain attached to the 9500 during shipping. The 9500’s shipping length with the new folding rear conveyor is just 41.8 feet (12.7 m). Shipping height is 11.5 feet (3.5 m).

The new option is the direct result of a contractor approaching GOMACO with a specific request. As part of the conveyor frame redesign process, GOMACO engineers rebuilt the 9500’s conveyor to be stronger and more rigid with a truss-style framework.

The switch to control the hydraulically-folding rear conveyor can be placed at different locations on the back of the machine, which allows ultimate operator visibility and safe operation. The belt width is still 36 inches (914 mm) and the rear conveyor maintains its 160 degree swing with hydraulic height adjustment up to 12 feet (3.7 m). It has a 34.7 feet (10.6 m) long reach during machine operation, with a conveyor belt speed of 504 feet per minute (153.6 mpm) allowing fast placing of concrete or removal of trimmed material.

The two-track 9500 with front-mounted trimmerhead offers several advantages for contractors. The front-mounted trimmer allows trimming to the end of each pass or within inches of front obstacles. The powerful single-drive, hydrostatic motor offers ultimate production. Contractors save time and labor with fewer connections and parts due to the single-drive motor. Time savings are also accomplished with the 9500’s quick-detach trimmerhead with machine-mounted pick-up arms. These features allow the trimmerhead to be quickly and easily loaded on the truck for transporting.

The 9500 has trimmer load control which controls the travel speed for optimum power to the trimmerhead. The steady, easily controlled travel speed guarantees accurate trimming and job-site mobility. Maneuvering around a job site can be difficult and conditions can create extra challenges. The 9500 was designed to beat those challenges. It can make a 360 degree turn within its own length for maximum maneuverability. The 9500 is user-friendly and operator safe with an operator’s station that is efficient and allows visibility over the entire operation. The 9500 features a remote control handset, emergency stop buttons located on strategic areas of the machine, a back-up alarm, an alarm for conveyor swing, and a rotating beacon on the rear conveyor.
