The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) is recognizing Barry Fagan, PE/PLS, CPESC, with the 2012 Presenter of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. This award recognizes an outstanding presenter who demonstrates excellence in presentation skills, educational delivery and content preparation. The winner is determined through the review of presenter evaluations received at IECA’s annual conference and expo.

Fagan was awarded with the Presenter of the Year Award for his course Environmental Leadership – Active or Passive Treatment at Environmental Connection 2012 in Las Vegas.

Fagan leads the environmental program of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) as ALDOT’s Environmental Program Engineer. He serves as promoter, coordinator, communicator, educator and problem solver within and outside of ALDOT. He aims to spark innovation and promote a culture of continual improvement.

Fagan has more than 21 years of road and bridge construction experience, with nearly half of that being in areas related to environmental protection and regulatory compliance. Barry is licensed in Alabama as a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor and is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control. He is an active member of the Alabama Erosion and Sediment Control Program Steering Committee, the AASHTO Stormwater Community of Practice and Water Working Group of the Interfaith Environmental Initiative of Alabama. Barry also serves as the Alabama Area Representative for CPESC, Inc.

When asked about the award, Fagan said: “The message presented during the workshop was that we have an obligation to lead from wherever we might be sitting. There is no one more knowledgeable, more passionate or more obvious to lead in our particular area of responsibility than we stormwater professionals.

“IECA provides valuable leadership at an international level; our leadership is needed at the project and team level, regardless of our working title,” Fagan continued. “Preparing and presenting this workshop at EC12 gave me the opportunity to grow personally and to convey the priorities of our state and of ALDOT.  The opportunity was a blessing and this recognition is an absolute honor.”

Tim Doucette

Liebherr Construction Equipment has promoted Timothy “Tim” Doucette to the newly created position of General Manager – Brand Strategy.

In this new role, Doucette will work closely with the Liebherr President Duane Wilder.

Reporting to Doucette will be the marketing and public relations departments, sales administration and the earthmoving product group. Doucette will also retain his current role as part of the dealer selection committee.

Previously, Fogarty held the position of retail bank manager for Wells Fargo Bank. She has experience in a variety of different areas including the medical sales industry, retail car dealerships and coaching college volleyball.

Fogarty is a native of San Antonio. She graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

“We’re seeing enormous demand in the upper Midwest for our entire product line, including single wall agricultural pipe, dual wall storm drain pipe, HP sanitary pipe, storm chambers, sanitary chambers, and many other products,” said Joe Chlapaty, ADS chairman and CEO, said in a written statement.

Watertown will be the company’s third new manufacturing facility in the region. The other new plants are located in Hampton, Iowa and Buxton, N.D.

The new Watertown plant is part of ADS’ $10 million capital investment announced last August to add significant pipe production capacity to the region. After the Watertown, S.D., plant opens, ADS will be operating 55 manufacturing locations worldwide, according to the company.

K-Tec's new manufacturing plant will be located in Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada.

K-Tec Earthmovers has begun full-scale production at a new manufacturing plant located in Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada.

The 12,280 square foot facility houses the pre-fabrication division and welding team and features a mezzanine to hold several shop offices. The facility is solely dedicated to the production of K-Tec construction equipment scrapers.

This building is the first structure constructed in the 217,500 square feet of property which K-Tec Earthmovers owns.

The Waco store sits on 4.1 acres of land within the city limits of Ross, Texas, just north of Waco and along Interstate 35.

The Cypress store, which is a relocation of the Houston stores, replaces the two stores previously located in Humble on FM 1960 and on the south side of Houston on Easthaven Blvd. The new store is located on 5 acres within the city limits of Cypress on Northwest Freeway 290.

Both stores provide additional service bays and a larger parts warehouse and showroom.

Vermeer Texas-Louisiana also plans to relocate to new stores in San Antonio and Lubbock during 2012.

Cooper Kenworth operates nine other locations in Clinton, Concord, Durham, Greensboro, Hickory, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, South Charlotte and Wilmington, North Carolina.

The move is part of the company’s surge of 27 acquisitions since the beginning of the year, lifting its North American total to more than 100 stores.

“We believe there is tremendous opportunity in the market in general, and specifically in the state of Kansas,” said Mike Crouch, vice president of business development for Volvo Rents, in a written statement.

The company has two other two stores in Wichita and Pittsburg, Kansas.

According to the latest data released by the American Rental Association (ARA), the equipment rental industry outperformed the industries it serves in 2011 and the momentum is expected to carry into 2012 and beyond.

ARA expects overall North American equipment rental industry revenue to increase at least 6.9 percent in 2012 to total $33.5 billion at year end. The five-year forecast calls for continued annual growth in rental revenue to reach a total of $53.1 billion by 2016.

In addition to Volvo Rents’ expanding line of Volvo compact equipment – such as backhoe and skid steer loaders, compact wheel loaders, compact excavators and compaction equipment – the more than 7,000-square-foot rental center carries a comprehensive line of essential equipment and tools for the construction, commercial, industrial and homeowner markets. The focus is on daily, weekly and monthly rentals.
