One of the key aspects that has always separated Vacuworx Global from other manufacturers in the lifting industry is the close relationship that we share with all members of the various market segments that make up the industry – from owners, to the people on the ground at the project. Customers have grown accustomed to working directly with Vacuworx team members in helping to both identify and develop the next new product or major innovation.

They have grown to trust us, because they have learned that when they ask us something – we listen and then we do something about it.

For the past few years, demand in the market for a vacuum based lifter designed for handling and placing concrete traffic barriers has continued to grow. The need for the same level of capability realized in all other Vacuworx lifters has been a constant – and we have heard you – we have heard you loud and clear. And so now for the first time ever you can enjoy all of the same benefits that you have always experienced from all of our other heavy duty lifting products – in a lifter specifically designed for working with these difficult to maneuver barriers. Both on site and in the yard handling and placement have just become a non-issue. You can now realize the same levels of increased safety and productivity by cutting both your overall install time and ground personnel by more than half.

The lifter is designed for use with a large variety of host equipment and is intended to be used in confined spaces with mobility restrictions. Off loading and installation is extremely fast meaning that your turn around time and ground personnel are reduced significantly – and both personnel and equipment have a dramatically reduced amount of time of exposure.

The lifter can work effectively with all sizes of barriers and has a four to one safe working load capacity of 7500 lbs. The lifter is completely self contained with an integrated diesel engine and operates with a matched tolerance gearing system that permits optimum operation for both the engine and vacuum pump helping to create maximum continuous output and longer run life.

When you put all of this together – you can see pretty quickly that just like the rest of the Vacuworx Lifting systems, the math gets pretty simple real fast – no wonder Vacuworx vacuum based technology heavy-duty lifting equipment continues to be the preferred choice around the world.

For a demonstration or to arrange to see and work with the new Concrete Barrier Lifter contact us at www.vacuworx.com or call us at 1-866-664-3450

With the proper amount of ballasting, the device is difficult to intentionally move, which helps to ensure that the Temporary Sign Support will not be moved. The Yodock® Temporary Sign Support has passed the NCHRP 350 criteria for Test Level III, 62 mph and has been accepted by the FHWA, see Letter WZ-127.

The Yodock® Wall Company, Inc. has determined that the ease of intentional movement of the traditional temporary sign support creates an unacceptable risk to pedestrians and motorists. Also many temporary signs are used in areas where underground cables or structures prevent a sign from being posted into the surface. To help eliminate these risks, a temporary sign support kit was developed to be used in conjunction with the Yodock® 2001 or 2001M.

Road Closure/Type III Barricade:The Yodock System is crashworthy and more effective at preventing unauthorized access to restricted areas than conventional type III barricades. Because the system is water ballasted, it is difficult to move, eliminating the need for labor intensive sandbags.

Temporary Sign Support:The Yodock System is crashworthy and more effective when used as a Temporary Sign Support because of its difficulty to move when ballasted.

Advantages

High visibility increases motorist decision sight distance

Water ballast makes it difficult for unauthorized movement or removal

Meets NCHRP 350 and has been accepted by the FHWA for 62 mph work zones

Eliminates the need for sand bags

Meets MUTCD requirements for Temporary Sign Support

In recent years, light towers have gone through many positive changes. The quality and output of light, and the tower design itself, have all greatly improved to deliver safer and more efficient work sites than ever before.

Light Quality

The first step in producing a better quality of light began with developments in the fixtures. Previous coaxial fixtures were large and vulnerable to damage, and their design didn’t allow for very efficient light output. The parallel lamp design now used on most modern light towers is more compact and less prone to damage. But more than that, parallel lamp fixtures provide a more even and higher output of light, increasing visibility and site safety.

But the industry continues to evolve. New lighting systems produce a brighter, whiter light. This latest technology utilizes 1,250-watt lamps producing 150,000 lumens each. This not only provides a greater quantity of light, but these lights also have a higher Color Rendering Index (CRI). A higher CRI means objects are seen more clearly and appear more like they would in natural sunlight, minimizing the risk of accidents and mistakes.

Setup for Safety

To properly position light towers, The area to be illuminated must be evaluated to determine the required level of illumination. Independently-developed photometric charts available from the light tower manufacturer will help determine number of light towers required and how they must be positioned on the jobsite to achieve the optimum illumination level. Once the light tower positioning has been established, be certain that the trailer outriggers can be fully extended and the jacks firmly supported on solid ground. Use the jacks to level the trailer and ensure that it is stable before raising the lights. Always make certain that there are no overhead power lines or other obstructions that can cause operator injury or death, and only then extend the tower.

Lighting the Way

Properly adjusting the lights can sometimes be tricky with a standard fold-down type tower because it requires that the operator visualize how the lights should be positioned while the tower is lying down. The latest vertical only light tower designs simplify setup and allow the lights to be intuitively aimed while the tower is in its lowest position. Since the light’s direction does not change as the tower is raised, it is easy to see exactly how the lights must be positioned before raising the tower.

Also, today’s vertical-only towers enable all four lights to be aimed straight down, “street light” fashion. This is an especially useful safety feature in highway construction zones as it allows the area in the vicinity of the light tower to be well-illuminated without blinding oncoming traffic.

The right light tower can be priceless. From the enhanced quality of light output to the new, compact designs, today’s light towers are much more than just a simple source of illumination. When it comes to safety, these are benefits that anyone can clearly see — even in the dark.

PreView Radar sensors detect an object outside of the operators view. An active warning alert sounds in the cab, giving the driver time to react and prevent an accident. As the equipment gets closer to the object, the alert increases in speed, while more LEDs illuminate.

When it comes to security, the Russians deal with it seriously. Which is why, says David Wasserstrom, president of Trident Security Devices (http://www.tridentdevices.com/) and the U.S. distributor of the Israeli-manufactured bollard, Moscow chose this High Security Bollard to protect the Kremlin perimeter.

The TSD Security Bollard was successfully tested (Oct 2010) at Calspan Transportation Sciences Center, and is in compliance with the new ATSM Standard as a L3/K12 Retractable Security Bollard, without exception or limitation.

However, to meet the strict Russian requirements, the Security Bollard was subjected to special demolition and crash tests conducted by the Russian Army under the close supervision of Kremlin Security Officers.

The major crash tests required the Security Bollard to successfully prevent penetration by a 6.8 ton (15,000 lbs) vehicle crashed at 65 kph (40 mph) Impact Resistance for the K8 Model, and at 80 kph (50 mph) Impact Resistance for the K12 model.

In competition with bollards from several other nations, the TSD K12 High Security Bollard was approved and chosen for the full protection of the Kremlin Compound.

TSD Security Bollards have a unique operating system. When multiple bollards are installed in a line, each individual bollard can be operated separately, as opposed to the existing method of one (1) drive unit for the entire bollard line. In addition, any combination of bollards in a multiple row of bollards can be programmed to operate as separate units.

The TSD Security Bollards, manufactured in Israel, are controlled by the Israeli Trade Act (1985) and are to be evaluated and considered made in the United States, with certain limited exceptions, under the Buy American Act of 1933 and in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Trident Security Devices, Incorporated (TSDI) is a manufacturer and distributor of an extensive line of safety and security products that meet the needs and requirements of government, the military and private industry.
