A new study by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) released on July 21 estimates it would cost $77.7 billion to shore up the nation’s rail and bus lines and another $14.4 billion a year to maintain the systems, according to a report in On the Money, Capitol Hill’s finance and economy blog.
The study, the National State of Good Repair Assessment, also reveals that nearly $80 billion is needed in improvements to get the nation’s rail and bus transit systems into a good state of repair, according to the On the Money report.
