Liebherr unveils ADT dump body
Liebherr has unveiled the first of its long-awaited ADT models, the TA230, according to the Bauma 2010 Daily News e-newsletter from Aggregates Business Europe and World Highways.
The following is taken from the report:
This first truck offers a 30-metric-ton payload in its 19m3 dump body and the firm plans to offer 40- and 50-metric-ton ADTs built along similar lines shortly.
The TA230 is powered by a Tier 3-compliant 10.5 -liter Liebherr diesel rated at 270kW offering a maximum travel speed of 57km/h and reversing speed of 16km/h. The high top speed is said to increase cycling performance.
Combined with the large dump body, the TA230 offers higher productivity than its nearest rivals in this payload class.
The engine has been developed in partnership with MAN and the partners are ready with their Tier 4 interim and Tier 4 final emissions solutions for when these come into force. Much of the technology is based on MAN’s experience of the on-highway truck sector.
The TA230 features a conventional layout and although Liebherr did build prototypes featuring an innovative hydrostatic driveline, this system did not meet expectations. Oil-cooled, wet plate disc brakes are fitted to the front and centre axles.
Built for durability and longevity, the TA230 is compact for its payload with a width for transport of just 3m and shares similar dimensions to most 25tonne payload trucks from competing manufacturers. A high visibility, high comfort cab is fitted that helps boost safety and allows the operator to drive the machine for a full shift, further increasing productivity.
The automatic transmission and retarder controls are all said to be easy to operate, while a diagnostics system displays machine condition and provides alert warnings. Other features include Liebbher electronics, high-quality front axle suspension, durable shock absorber units, rugged long stroke Liebherr cylinders for the dumpbody and a discharge time of just 10 seconds.
